I started the AngieO label in early 2009 as a hobby and it is the most satisfying and exciting experience I have done in a very long time. The recipes that I have chosen and will continue to add to the range will each have a story associated with them from either my childhood or my continuing travels.
In 2004 we had an amazing adventure through UK and Europe and emailed back home all the details on a daily basis of our journey. Our friends and family looked forward to the emails and the continuing sagas of our adventures. A year later I had these emails printed into a book as gifts. Part of this adventure was in a camper van with Fabio into the real heart of Tuscany in the small villages untouched by tourists, mixing with locals and eating and drinking all their homemade products – consequently The “Limoncello” stems from my absolute enthusiasm for Italy and my Italian friends and has been tried and tasted and past the “Naples test” mainly because of the more lemony flavour. Most of the sales have been by “word of mouth” and showcasing at the City Market up until it closed in 2015.
My husband Wayne and I travel extensively - we both love food and experiencing the culture and food of other countries and especially like returning to the countries where we have the best experiences. Wayne trained as a Chef in the very old days in the hotel industry when gourmet food was not fashionable - and he is an excellent cook and appreciates so much of the fine food we can get today. We had a catering business part-time for many years but were reluctant to commit to this fulltime when we were bringing up 3 children.
We have friends all over the world and this is because whether we are at home here in NZ or in any other country we make friends and we host them in our home and they host us in their country.
Our travels take us everywhere spending around 6 weeks at a time in UK and Europe – regularly spent with our friend Sergio who has one of the most popular restaurants south of Pisa. We had a new experience in 2013 in Mexico which opened our eyes to new food and flavours.
Our youngest daughter lived in London but has recently moved to the Gold Coast of Australia and our son in Los Angeles so we eat at some amazing places when we visit them.
We love to share with everybody our travel and food experiences. My close friends and family are the only people who know what my husband Wayne and I do and of our travelling and food obsession.
